Emerson Industrial Automation has announced that its Browning line of raw-edge, notched V-belts now have an expanded temperature rating of -60° to 250°F. The EPDM formulated belts have a 110ºF higher heat tolerance than industry-standard polychloroprene belts, making them ideal for rooftop blower units, commercial kitchen, or industrial process exhaust systems. EPDM is a synthetic rubber compound formulated for strength, flexibility, and resistance to heat, decay, ozone, oxidation, and humidity. The company says the V-belt styles can also improve drive efficiency 2% to 3% over wrapped style V-belts, saving about $300 per year on a 20-hp/15-kW drive at $0.12/kWh.
