Regal Beloit Corporation has integrated its Genteq® electronically commutated motor products for the refrigeration industry to consolidate product offerings for its customers.
Continental Fan has developed its MFT-S Mixed Flow In-Line Fans, available in 4-, 5-, and 6-inch duct diameters. The company says the fans are ideal for either supply or exhaust ventilation systems and are suitable for air temperatures up to 140ºF.
Greenheck has added two new models of stainless steel backdraft dampers to its backdraft damper line. The SSNM-10 Series is a horizontally-mounted backdraft damper designed to allow vertical airflow up and prevent reverse airflow.
Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US launched an updated 2x2 Four-Way Ceiling Cassette (PLFY-P) as part of the CITY MULTI® product lineup. The new PLFY-P Ceiling Cassette offers a square-edge design that fits into the same 2-ft. by 2-ft. dimensions as many standard ceiling tiles. The four vanes allow air to flow in multiple directions for maximum comfort.
Air Monitor has released its OAM II Airflow Measurement System. The company says the system provides reliable airflow measurement without straight duct runs and is accurate when wet.
Carrier is offering an electronically commutated motor (ECM) direct-drive fan option for the Aero® 39M commercial air handler product line. According to company officials, adding the new ECM fan option enables customers to further improve the system’s energy efficiency. Onboard electronics determine the position of the rotor, which then provides an electronic pulse to actuate the motor windings.
Titus has released the TJD, a standard OMNI diffuser designed specifically to address low air volume codes. According to the company, while most air outlets typically work at 100 cfms, the patent pending TJD performs at 20 to 50 cfms and throws air at 50 ft per minute up to 9 ft from the diffuser. The high mixing increases the discharge isovel and its throw, providing uniform temperatures and equally distributed outside air throughout the space.
The Sensaphone® Airflow Sensor measures the rate of airflow and alerts data center managers when conditions fall outside the ideal range. The sensor monitors the presence or absence of cool moving air and provides relative airflow as a percentage from 0 to 100.
Triatek, a manufacturer of airflow control products for laboratory and healthcare applications, has acquired Flow Safe, Inc., a fume hood controls company based in Denville, NJ.
Alfa Laval has introduced a patented cooling concept, Low Speed Ventilation, which the company says delivers air at a considerably lower speed: 1.5 to 1.8 meters per second. Reducing air speed and delivering an optimum airflow eliminates the Venturi effect, minimizes pressure differences, and therefore prevents problems such as “hot spots.” As LSV is a normal pressure technology, data center operators only need to control air availability, not air pressure, making it easier to achieve optimum conditions in the server room.
