Carrier is offering an electronically commutated motor (ECM) direct-drive fan option for the Aero® 39M commercial air handler product line. According to company officials, adding the new ECM fan option enables customers to further improve the system’s energy efficiency. Onboard electronics determine the position of the rotor, which then provides an electronic pulse to actuate the motor windings.
MSA Safety Incorporated has released its Chillgard® VRF Refrigerant Leak Detector with integrated BACNet capability. Designed with MSA’s advanced photoacoustic infrared (PAIR) sensing technology, Chillgard VRF Refrigerant Detectors operate with a stable zero baseline.
Titus has released the TJD, a standard OMNI diffuser designed specifically to address low air volume codes. According to the company, while most air outlets typically work at 100 cfms, the patent pending TJD performs at 20 to 50 cfms and throws air at 50 ft per minute up to 9 ft from the diffuser. The high mixing increases the discharge isovel and its throw, providing uniform temperatures and equally distributed outside air throughout the space.
Cleaver-Brooks has launched the ClearFire®-CE (CFC-E) condensing boiler. The company says the boiler can achieve up to 99% efficiency due to its enhanced AluFer® firetube heat exchanger and dual temperature returns. When utilized, dual temperature returns increase condensing in a hot water boiler, raising efficiency by 6% or more compared to a traditional single-return design, according to officials.
According to Det-Tronics, its SmokeWatch™ U5015 uses advanced photoelectric smoke detection technology not generally available in an explosion-proof housing. The detector is rated for Class 1 Division 1, 2, and Zone 1 environments found in industrial applications. Used with the Q5016 Duct Mount Accessory, the detector can be installed on ductwork to meet NFPA 90A requirements for AHUs of more than 2,000 cfm.
Regal Beloit Corp. says it has developed its most energy-efficient motor in NEMA Premium® frame sizes. According to officials, the NovaMAX motors are ultra-efficient, electronically commutated permanent magnet motors. NovaMAX motors are packaged in standard NEMA frame sizes and mounting dimensions enabling simple substitution in retrofit applications. Available in frame sizes from 48 to 280, the NovaMAX motors are compatible with readily available VFDs from most leading manufacturers.
Taco Comfort Solutions has added new features and capabilities to its large 00e VR ECM, wet rotor commercial circulator line designed for chilled and hot water applications. Available in four sizes (VR 15-3, 20-3, 25-3, and 30-3), the sensorless 00e VR line provides differential head pressures up to 42 ft and flows up to 360 GPM.
Marley Engineered Products has launched QMark radiant ceiling panels, which the company says provides custom, targeted, hidden heat in a wide range of applications. Able to blend in seamlessly with any indoor building space, the radiant ceiling panels are designed to provide localized spot heating or primary heating where it’s needed. The panels can be specified by dimension and output level for each room to ensure optimal integration with a building’s traffic flow and design.
Daikin Applied has introduced its Rebel rooftop air handler. The company says the Rebel offers engineers and building owners a customizable chilled water solution featuring segment-leading technologies that provide for a complete single-sourced system. Combined with either Pathfinder® or Trailblazer® air-cooled chillers, users capitalize on the 22+ IPLV performance of an air-cooled chiller for a complete system solution to match application needs.
Sensor Evaluation Honeywell announced a new method for customers to test the capabilities of its sensors, which the company says allows for faster and more efficient component decisions and a speedier product development process. With the new sensor evaluation kits, engineers can perform a thorough evaluation of Honeywell’s TruStability™ pressure sensor series without needing to develop additional software code or spin a new printed circuit board. The kits aim for easier demonstrating and evaluating Honeywell’s TruStability RSC series as well as the digital output versions of the HSC series and SSC series board mount pressure sensors.
